Isabelle Casez was born in the Burgundy region of France in an artist family and developed an early interest in photography and cinema.

After her cinematography  studies at the Louis Lumière school, she served as assistant to a number of well-known cinematographer. Work on various international shootings brought her to Berlin, where she has worked as director of photography on both documentaries and fiction films.

Since then she has also teached at German Film and Television Academy Berlin (dffb), and  the Hff in Münich, she also worked for the Goethe Institut.

She is member from the German Film Academy.
